Yeah, I've heard about those poor headless chickens raised in 2 weeks for KFC, but I just can't stop eating them! JK, however I did have to repair a lot of machinery at the UofA farm and those chickens have a miserable short life. I can't remember the exact length of time but around every two months goverment inspectors would have the entire chicken herd destroyed to prevent disease from entering the chicken breeding strains.

A buddy of mine worked at a rendering plant for about 2 days and won't eat another hotdog in his life. Myself, I may know better but as long as it tastes good I still eat everything that I like without reflecting on it's origins. So far I'm not too fat (my opinion) and have lower cholesterol than my veggie pushing wife.

Louis ck had a hilarious bit on eating animals. It boiled down to him thinking it was wrong but in the end he didn't care that he thought it was wrong lol. I was darn near vegan for a year and a half and was all over that PETA stuff. I snapped one night, ate a huge box of dry ribs and am living happily ever after.

I dont understand the not eating animal products/meat thing. Our ancestors... 30...40...50 thousand years ago... ate meat. They forever did, and we still do. Our bodies and digestive systems are designed for it. Full vegan... I cant see that being easy on one's body. (That is not a poke at anyone that has or is). I just dont understand it 'scientifically'.

Cheers,
Chris

Our ancestors probably did all sorts of things most people would find repugnant. I imagine they didn't spend a lot of time thinking about whether murder or rape was ethical either. People have various reasons for being vegetarian but I think most people turn vegan for ethical reasons, not primarily their health.

Also I would dispute the claim that our digestive systems are designed to eat large quantities of meat. I'm curious why you think being a Vegan would be hard on someones body compared to eating food like McDonalds regularly?

I do eat a rather large quantity of meat myself, probably to my health's detriment.

If you happen to slip into PETA's clutches they go on at length about how we're NOT designed to eat/digest meat actually... but like I said I'm a free man now. I'm sure eating all the meat I do eat isn't great for me but I can't think of many things I enjoy more than eating and meat reigns supreme =)

And I suspect you're right about the vegans doing so more for ethical reasons. That was my motivation but I didn't eat well at all in this mode... It was more a case of removing what I told myself was unethical... not nearly enough supplementation!
