Default Blue throat triggers

Hey all,

I was thinking about picking up a blue throat trigger. Just looking for some personal experience with them. My only concern are theshrimp, snails and hermits. Should this fish be introduced last?

I had mine in with shrimp, crabs and snails and it never bothered them.

I would add it last. They get quite aggressive at feeding time, and mine wasn`t even that big. How big is your tank?

I have one and I love him. Doesn't bother my shrimp or inverts.

But I would highly recommend an introduction tank so they start eating without competition in the beginning. Learned this the hard way with 3 of them.

Good to hear, now that my puffers are gone I can concentrate on a reef system. Hoping to get one of these guys in my tank.

Each fish is different but my experience with trigger has been the same. I have a niger trigger with shrimp, clam and snails for a year and half now and he's like 7" with the tail and does not touch anything in my tank.

great fish! I love triggerfish.

I agree, I dove Molokini in Oct and right near the surface.. there were hundreds of black triggerfish. I will post a pic later tonight.

i bought one and he was great with my inverts! Still have all my porcelain crabs to prove it. But the little bastard went for my Purple Death Palys one night so he went into the sump and got sold pretty fast. Not sure if I would try another, i really like my porcelain crabs but if I did I might look at a Crosshatch or Kiri.

Im on the other side of the fence unfortunately. Had a male and female, until they ate my copperbanded shrimp and both my cleaner shrimp. Never again.

Seems like a hit or miss. But from the threads over at RC, people have had good results with the blue throat trigger.
