The big problem I found with them is that they usually bite out of playfullness (is that a word?) and not out of aggression. This makes it harder to train them to stop. If they only bit when they were ****ed off then it would be easy...just don't **** them off. But nooooo...they bite when they're HAPPY and it may be ok when they bite each other, but they don't realize that humans don't have skin quite as thick as they do!

A little trick I used was to put "bitter apple"(found at pet stores for stopping dogs from chewing)on my hands before i pick him up.When they would nip, they'd get the taste of the liquid(doesn't harm them)and learn that when they nip they got a horrible bitter taste in their mouth. After a while they learned not to nip
Most people just give up trying to train them, thats why you see so many in the bargainfinder

Sometimes you see a Ferret Rescue society advertising their thing on Channel 10 here in Calgary. It sounds like many are purchased by unwary customers, but they soon give up.

ferrets are fun pets but a ton of work, big smelly poop, they get into everything, and they smell no mater how often you clean them and their area, Im sure you could keep the smell down if they were kept in a bare stainless steel box that was cleaned 3 times a day, but you cant really do that. even if you do get used to the smell, if you dont have people over ever youll be fine, otherwise they will get sick at the door...
Id love to have some, but not the best house pet

My tenant has 3 of them.

They are, without a doubt, the most boring lizards in the world. Not to mention they stink and have ginormous craps!

is ginormous a word? heh.

lol, just making a point Christy, I worked in a pet store and had to clean up after the ferrets... cripes...

I thought about bearded dragons once but I just can't stand the idea of bringing crickets etc into the house on purpose.

Ahh, this thread gave me a good laugh. I especially like the "ginormous craps" comment.

Poo is funny
