I could put them in my sump but do they need light? My sump room light is always off.

Wayne it would make me really happy if it's a predator tank. Revenge is bitter sweet.

Offer them to the reefer or take them back to the LFS. They are reef critters too. |

I installed a 90º elbow pointed down which is very close to the glass. I don't think they can get in. The elbow works great to increase the minimum water level in a sump.

not related to your hermit issue...but your sump should have a light over it, when ever the lights on the main tank are off

My understanding is that this rule only applies to a sump with a refugium containing chaeto, etc. I don't completely understand, but something to do with the oxygen release?? Bignose only has rock in his sump so it should not be an issue.

I would not. I would probably moan and complain, read three words and swear once or twice. But since you made it this far, please rate my builds. |

I like to get rid of my hermits too, the blue legs kills my cerith snails.
but I worried about one thing, hermit crabs can quickly eat dead fish/coral/snail, without them how can I do that? |

I can add... don't kill anything! Ha ha. I agree with your statement though... and feel that they are definitely useful for clean-up. I just say to remove the "problem" crabs. Not all crabs act the same IMO. Some are coral "sitters" others are not.
