On very low bio loading yes, but leaves no room for expansion.

I am running a BM150pro on my 60 gallon.

Red sea max - depends where abouts, it has two options for hanging, if you can give more details (pics) I can assist more.

BM150pro is sump installed and $379.

Go for the BMqq then upgrade where needs be

The only thing i can say is your not giving the unit long enough to bed in, a skimmer takes up to a week to mature, let is run wet, allow it to get gunky then it will stat to settle in
I frigg'd with it more last night and managed to get it so that the top of the maxijet is at the water surface. I can't lift it any higher because the maxijet hits the plastic screw that holds the skimmer body in place. Besides, the Maxijet is supposed to be run fully submersed for cooling, no ?

It is now running unthrottled (air hose direct to the cup) and while my wife doesn't like the louder operation, it's running without overflowing now. The skimmate is still wetter than it should be though.

The skimmer has been running for nearly 2 weeks now.

I watched all the YouTube vids I could again last night and I can't understand why all the installations appear to be so high (collection cup height above water). I even saw one guy running the maxijet half out of the water ! From what I can see, the top of the bubbles should be around the bottom of the collection cup wheras mine are about halfway up the cup. Obviously, this is why it's skimming wet.

The RSM isnt sumpless ... just has a sump in the back and not like the traditional sump under the tank setup....

--cut from RSM Club--
The 70mm cylinder (2.76 inches) should fit the back but if you go look at the images, I think the additional space needed by their mounting bracket would make it a no-go in the back of a 130 or 130D. Looks like it would sit up pretty high also - no closed hood or at least no skimmer flap.
--end cut--

Hope that helps ..
