Thanks guys and gals! I hope it will be a good time. The last time we took a vacation with the kidlets was kinda more work than we bargained for...actually we needed a holiday after the holiday. (They were 15 months and 2 1/2yrs) Hopefully this time is a little more relaxing than last...
Unfortunately this will not be a snorkell/dive trip (I'd book elsewhere if so, since I don't think there is much to see on the pacific side) More just a hang-out on the beach and at the pool kinda trip. Can't complain about that though! We found flights for $98 return! So what the heck!

I have only been to Playa Del Carmen but I have friends that go to Ixtapa every year and it is GREAT. One fellow I know love the surfing and the town as it is very welcome to visitor's. That is one he....double hockey sticks.... of a awesome price for flights. Do you have a hotel booked yet or are you just going down and find one when you get there? Lot's of the people that I know that go there find hotels when they arrive.

Have a great time and take lot's of pic's & yes I am jealous as well.

Carmen, there is decent snorkeling in Zihuatenejo. There is a small, shallow reef running parallel to the beach that has quite a few different species of fishes. Not much for corals though. The jungle grows right down to the beach, and it is quite humid; Will take you a few days to get used to it. I only spent 8 hours there as it was one of the stops on our cruise 2 years ago. Small and friendly with a nice beach. As for Ixtapa, I know nothing about it as we didn't go into it.

That's just what the Westjet commercial says.

Never been but I've been to PV 3 times and Cancun once.

You'll enjoy yourself.

We have booked a condo - a tiny little place with a beautiful pool just off of the beacjh abit. Should be nice and private and price was good too!
We will take a bunch of pics! Always come back with a camera full!

We have been to Mazatlan twice and loved the beach there so I assume this will be similar...
Thanks!

You'll be fine with the kids too. I was all worried about taking the kids on my vacation; it was fine. The flight went about as well (well, about as badly) as one might expect. Unfortunately factors that didn't help was that the TV's didn't work, it was delayed AND slow so a 6 hour flight was more like 7.5 hours .. AND they ran out of the 3 items of food they sell that my kids would actually eat. So yeah, by about 5.5 hours into the flight we were "THAT family" and getting a lot of dirty looks but ..well, what can you do. We survived.

Turns out the TVs working wouldn't have helped much. They were working on the way back, but I guess they don't work outside of 200km offshore, only for movies, and you can only buy movies in the first 15 minutes of the flight.

But, meh. The vacation will be good no matter what happens with the flights. Your kids will have so much fun on the beach.

Ugh Tony...doesn't sound like the flight went so well! Hoping ours goes a little more smooth! Bringing video games and DVD player! I am going prepared!

Your vacation was good otherwise?

It was very good! I'll have to try uploading the photos soon. I kinda went camera crazy. Lots and lots of snorkeling and dive pics.
