Default I have a brain tumor

I've never seen this before on books or online. Is my brain attempting to propogate by way of......whatever you call this; The best word I can think of is a tumor! Can someone varify that this is normal? Or is it a form of tumor, a coral cancer if you will.

It's been growing for about 2 months now, and is about the size of a nickle in diameter. Sorry about the grainy picture. It's actually taken under actinics only.

Looks like it's making a "baby" It should bubble off like that and eventually fall off the parent colony and you'll have another. I remember searching for this a while back. I'm sorry I have no idea how I managed to find it.

Its a form of coral reproduction called budding I believe. Very common with fungia (plate) species & flowerpots as well.

Eric Borneman was researching this phenomenon a few years back he had a name for it and everything. It is a type of asexual reproduction that he has only seen in aquarium corals I think

Cool. It looks like there will be two when all is said and done. I just noticed another "bud" above and a bit behind the larger one. Looks like I'm starting a brain factory.

Well, maybe we can trade when they're both done doing their things.
