Wow, every time I see a tank like this it really makes me want to try a non-photosynthetic tank. These tanks ARE possible, but it's like doing a species tank for cephalopods or seahorses...it really needs to target the special needs of the inhabintants. I am surprised that he's using a skimmer on the tank, but then look at his feeding practises, I suppose once he floods the water column with that much food he needs to get it out before it pollutes. Crazy he has a US$2300 skimmer on a 65 gallon tank!!
 However, I do think that this particular skimmer probably significantly contributes to his success as these skimmers are designed to keep plankton in the tank and out of the skimmer. Very interesting design.Last edited by Myka; 04-30-2009 at 06:26 PM.
