Assuming your tank is not over 30" tall, well I would think you should have no problem keeping them 3" off the bottom. I have several deppwater species that I keep 2" off the bottom with my 400W halides and the colour is real nice.

My frag, from the same colony, is 17in. from my 150w 14k Phoenix and has very nice color and is not encrusting excellent.

Ahh! A picture is worth 1000 words! All pics under 2x250w MH 10,000k + actinic except very last pic is in the dark w/flash

When I FIRST got it (ugly tan yellow sticks....but I saw potential)



A couple of weeks later (ooh! good things are happening...)



And Now (I don't remember how long I've had it, can't be too long, 2 months?)



And one shot of the amazing PE I get from it at night (taken with a flash)
