Default Custom tank stands and canopies

Just wanted to share a few pics of a stand I made ( I am a finishing carpenter by trade) for a reefer here in Calgary, and the "floating" canopy (1- 150w mh pendant & 2- 24w HOT5 actinics) I made for myself. I will be doing this on the side to try and make some extra coin to feed my reef addiction. If interested you can pm me. Hope I dont get in trouble with the mods for this.

Those are beautiful, great job!

My husband made my stand and it's way nicer than most of the stuff I've seen in the shops - Custom is the way to go!!

Nice work.

There's a thread going on RC with stands (here) might give you ideas for your next project.

I like the floating canopy!! I've been trying to figure out how to make a canopy for my rimless cube without losing the rimless concept. Good idea! How are the legs attached?

That stand was made from MDF right? What are you using to finish it? I'm curious because my old stand started to bubble, and it had several coats of acrylic paint on it.

Very nice work though, you must have a lot of cool tools.

The gentleman that I made the stand for did the painting himself. The mdf needs to be sealed with a good quality sealer before painting. Thats half the battle; having the right tools to do a good job. The other half is having hands steady enough to use the tools

I tried woodworking once...my hands are barely steady enough to drink...

Beautiful stand btw.
