Default Return Pump Question

Is it possible to tee off the return fitting and have a Mag 5 and a Quiet1 1200 running together to increase water flow? Pros / Cons?? I am just wondering this instead of having to go out and get another new larger pump as the Mag 5 is only a week old.

TIA

Glenn

Can run pumps in series (increased head) or parallel (increased flow), worth the hassle (plumbing, extra fitting, space, maintenance), I would just get a bigger pump (assuming your overflows can handle).

I have a 1.5" return line and a 1.5" overflow line with an emergency 1.5" overflow straight to the sump. So I think it can handle the volume.

I just hate the idea of throwing away $90 and then having to go get another new pump to do the job that I wanted the first one to do........ Am I cheap? Or just frugal? Only my banker knows for sure

you won't be throwing away, you'd be posting FS in the Buy&Sell section.

Or see if someone wants to swap the smaller one for a bigger one (plus a little extra).

Anyone wanna trade a Mag 5 for a Mag 7 (or 9)? Prefer in Calgary because of shipping costs....

FWIW I have found that even with the Herbie overflow I cannot push a lot of water back through my return as I get to much splashing noise from the extra water dropping into the overflow (only about a 3" drop to the water level).

I have a peice of eggcrate angled to the bottom of my overflow and that seems to quiet things down conciderably.
