I have 2 72" Hamilton 3 175w and 2 60" VHO. Up until recently I was using Ushio 10K 175W and I continually had problems with firing many time I would come home only to find that 2 of the 3 have fired. I discussed the problem with the boy at J&L and Jeff told me to try the XM bulbs. I did and they were great and cheaper too, what a bargin. I find them whiter and brighter. I have since changed all 6 to XM 10000K

I was running Ushios last year, and switched over to the XMs too. I like the XMs better, but I didn't mind the Ushios either. Biggest factor in my choice was the price. I do recall reading the comparrison that was done in Advanced Aquarist, and the XMs came out slightly better. I do think the XM, which are 10 moths old now, are holding the colour better than the Ushios did. I will probably stick with the XMs next time, but I would like to try the 14ks instead of the 10ks.

i really think ushio shot themselves in the foot making it so they bulbs won't fire on hamiton ballasts. thats the reason i switched, now that i have seen them run i would buy them even if they would fire.

Default bulbs

If any one of you want XM bulbs I still have 4 of the 250watt brand new 15,000K for sale.

Is going to be 40% off from J&L prices and there is no tax (works out to $49)

So let me know, I can ship if you like or you can pick it up in Vancouver or Nanaimo.

Cheers

anyone have any comparason pics of the XM bulbs? I would say I would like a couple but the 15K rating scares me to comitt unless I know how blue they are.
