I'm finally into it. My 72 gal Bowfront is in week 3 of cycling. Purchased a box of L/R from James @ Ocean Aquatics & very, very impressed with what I recieved. Maybe a lucky box, you could stick your head inside & just smell the oean. Also purchased an additional 20 lbs of estabished rock from other reefers on this site, & added after 4 days of start-up. This is when I really noticed more algae starting & I guess what comes with cycling.
Have been doing some simple 5-7% water changes every few days.
Today made a bigger jump to 15 % change.

My question is: I have been premixing my salt & water to reach .025 & then running a powerhead to circulate for 3-4 days.. IS THIS OK???

Any suggestions/recommendations would be muchly appreciated.

I think you are doing really well. You will have some algae blooms, but it is part of the "cycling" process. I had a brown algae explosion 2 months after the set up and they just killed themselves of and hair algae came in after. Now they are slowly getting out competed by chaeto and halimeda.
