Default Price for halides...?

So, anyone out there give me an idea of what kind of money I would need to spend to DIY a 4 foot canopy with dual 250W halides? Just looking for a guess really. Lokking by the way for a price with all wood, balasts, bulds, wires etc... Sure don't like the idea of spending as much as they ask retail!!!!

-What type of wood? oak, birch, plywood, osb?
-What type of bulb? SE or DE?
-What type of ballast? 175W, 250W, 400W, HQI, etc..?

Too many variables...

Don't care about the wood, probably single ended and 250 watters. I'm just looking for an aproximation... doesn't need to be any kind of accurate.

You can buy a ballast kit from ebay and save money.
I have bought 1 400w ballast for $50 shipping included you just need to make an enclosure for the ballast. And also you can try looking for a bulb in ebay it runs from $60 up..

Heh... I'm building my own right now... 2 x 250W and 2 x 96W PC's and 2 x 96W PC Actinics... 2 - 6 inch fans, I scrounged some beautiful parabolic reflectors and built a custom canopy with 2 - 4 1/2 inch ball bearing fans, and 2 - 3 inch controlled via a thermostat... by the time I'm done this will have cost me a bundle... close to $1300 and that's scrounging quite a bit of hardware, paint, etc... BUT... after looking around, you can't find anything "factory made" like that .... 900 watts... I'll post pics when I am finished...

Jim.

I did my dual 250w SE, 2 110w VHOs for about $800.

I used mdf and have a dual HQI ballast, 2 120mm fans.
