Another Step Closer! (update May 7)

Well After my Trip to Home Depot The other weekend i finally got most of the PVC fitting's i need.

The First thing id like to say is purple primer is a bad idea,
Using purple primer on the Oak kitchen table is an even worse idea.
End result is a grand assortment of foul words erupting from your wifes mouth,



One of my next jobs will be refinishing the kitchen table

Anyways,
First up is a slightly redesighned Durso standpipe,
I stole a couple of other peoples Mods and put them together to suit my tank. I changed it to the hole on the back of the tank setup, and added the hose mod to the top (this apparently makes the noise reduction fool proof)



Second up is the first part of the return.
Getting pumped up the 1 1/4 line buy a Mag 9.5 then splitting and reducing
down to 3/4 pipe.



And here they are in postion




Unforunatly where my tank sits i can see a bit of the plumbing and that
ugly purple primer. A little of the leftover paint from the back of the tank.
Problem solved!



I made sure not to paint anywhere that will be over top of the water, and thats just the PVC glue you see in the holes.

Loc-Line pieces.




Well Thats it for now, Next up is my surface skimmer box for the drain.

you can get some clear primer from plumbing supply places. its actually nice becuase it's a little thicker and won't run as much.

you really dont need primer if you just use a little sandpaper on both surfaces so that the solvent can penetrate the pvc!

not as good, if you read about why to use primer you will see it does help alot in the bonds. I use clear primer and clear glue, and sometimes grey glue.

Could you please list the mods to the Durso, you used? URLs would be great. It looks like the Stockman mod, but the side hole and the smaller lid??

That durso is exactly what I need for my setup, which is just like yours. Right now I have an airline tube running down the main drain which makes a gurgling noise.

I cant say i exactly remember? Off RC somewhere im sure though.
Its pretty much a standard durso, the part you arent seeing is the side hole in the pic hooks to my bulkhead. then just the piece of tubing on top to redice noise. (or so im told)

I'll presume you mean the Loc-Line, The C-tires out here doesnt carry them or anywhere else for that matter. I ordered mine from ocean aquatics. Its not "air/water tight" so it can only be used under water. Im sure between coraline and crap getting stucked in it after a few moths its probably doesnt lose much.

Anyways ill have a major post coming up soon. been doing lots of tank work not much computer work. But ive been taking pics along the way.
