It seems that everytime I put carbon in my prism pro return chamber, I have an algae outbreak and my skimmer starts filling up with algae as well. Any ideas?

I use ChemiPure instead. Have it on all my tanks, ever since the early 80s. Works great & cost effective too (CP 6 months lifespan vs 1 month for AC). Always stick it in & forget-about-it.

Some carbon has a fair amount of phosphate in it. I'd take some of your carbon, put it in a small vial full of water and give it 24-48 Hrs to leach and then do a phosphate test on it. I'm using the 24-48 Hrs because it strikes me that it would take that long, it may leach out sooner I don't know.
