Default gsp

My gsp is getting a buildup of funk. I regularly blow detritus with a turkey baster but this stuff won't blow off. Can I use an old soft toothbrush to clean it?TIA

I wouldn't use an old toothbrush that has been used...a new soft bristled one will work though. Just don't scrub too hard. Also, expect them to be miffed at you and not open for a bit.

What kind of "funk" are you refering to?

Is it getting enough current? If not it might help keep the algae from growing on it.

My flow isn't that high as I am waiting to set up my sump when I will incorporate more flow. I do blow with a turkey baster every couple days. Not enough? Will this stuff kill the colony?
