![]() I'm looking into getting some new headlights for my truck.
if you've done research or actually gotten new headlamps: what kind are they? are they blue or white or purple? how much did they cost ? where did you get them? would you recommend them to others? thanks ![]() |

![]() Go with Sylvania Silverstars or PIAA brand bulbs. Anything else is either illegal or crap. You could also splurge for a HID kit but those are about $700.

![]() well, I picked up the silverstars, haven't had the change to put them in yet..anticipation is killin me, however the -20 and 60mph wind gusts is making inside feel nice..

![]() I put Silverstars in my Xterra. Big mistake, the headlights for the Xterra's are already too bright. At night every other car flashes their highbeams at me. Anyhow they're not bue, they are more like a pure "10000K" kind of white and they are super bright.
You don't see them too often but I like those HID lights you see on some cars. Watching them fire up looks eerily familiar ... ![]()

![]() The problem with aftermarket HID though is that they often don't come with the correct reflectors so they don't work as efficiently. Also, on some of them, you lose the high beam/low beam function.

![]() I always wondered how they handled that. So the answer is they don't! Hehe.

![]() as newguy said, because of the angle of light in the headlight unit, and because most headlights that aftermarket HID kits go into are not of the projector style, it causes a different color to come, then what you usually anticipate.
Some of the HID kits come in a hi/lo product, inwhich the high beam function will still work. Usually by turning on a #194 bulb next to the HID bulb. |

![]() Also, one last thing about aftermarket HIDs...they may or may not be legal to use. I know in the US, there is a ban on aftermarket HIDs. If you use them, you may run the risk of getting a ticket.
