![]() So ATM I'm running a 33g long for a frag tank and rapidly running out of room so I've decided to build up a 75g using all the equipment off of my old system (swc 150 skimmer, 48" tek 4 bulb, etc)
Started off by buying a used 75g with stand that ill be drilling and plumbing with a herbie Minor set back, the manufacturer of the tank decided to NOT put a label on the bottom pane saying its tempered so I quickly found out that it is while drilling my first hole ![]() ![]() Luckily for me I have some tubes of ge scs1200 and a couple of donor 75's laying around with non tempered glass In theory the side pane should be the same size as the bottom right? ![]() Is not ive got some 10mm glass layin around ..... Should have listened to the wife and done an external box :s but I had to do it the lazy way because I hate taking trim off........

![]() So after cutting apart one of my old 75's I quickly realized that the bottom pane wouldn't work due to the old style tank (bottom sits inside instead if under the sides)
So I grabbed a piece of half inch and went over to mission glass to get it cut (my work bench is to small to cut a 3x6 piece of glass on) I used half inch because of 3 reasons, 1. Buying new 8mm would cost more that a new 75g tank, 2. It will allow me to put the drains slightly closer together due to overkill on the thickness, 3. I had some and didn't want to wait for it to get ordered in. ![]()

![]() Screw up after screw up... Ordered the acrylic for my overflows... Wasn't thinking and ordered the wrong size... Went 6" instead of 8"
![]() All will be fine tho, ill recycle the 6" piece for my 135g Test fit. ![]() Tank is all fixed up now, completely cleaned and has a new bottom all siliconed on

Tbh replacing the bottom isn't much work when it's already broken, sides are alot harder to replace, IMO the hardest part is removing top trim without breaking it
