Default question about a candy cane

I've got a candy cane frag that seems to come out only at night, and receeds when the mh's come on(250w 10k).Placement is about 3/4 up the tank in moderate flow area.At night it looks healthy(fully extended)and during the day you'd swear it was dead
Is the 250 too much light?

Jim

Im running 250 10K's and mine are doing well. Id place them at the bottom of the tank for a while and see if they will aclimate better.

If this is the frag you got from me : I had the same problem, I have slowely moved it up, and it seems to be doing fine now. Just give it some time.

FWIW mine is pretty much at the bottom of the tank attached to the base rock. It is somewhat sheltered but still gets a fair bit of light.

I had the same problem as yourself whenI first bought the coral and had it higher up in the tank. No problems since moving it and three heads have split within 4 months. Lighting is same as yours, depth of tank is about 20 inches with the halides about 10 inches over the water line.

HTH,

Rob
