Default More than one damsel/30 gal.

Anyone have any experience having more than one damsel in a tank of 30 gal. My research says the yellowtail damsel is about the best choice to group together. Is it feasible to have maybe 3 of them in a 30 gal tank with lots of live rock. Thanks in advance George Muller

I have had three yellow tail damsels for over three years now. Currently, they reside in the 6' long 155g.

Previously, they resided in a 4' 72g and the third damsel had to be removed.

I don't think you could ever put them in such close quarters, but that has been my experience.

Damsels in the Chromis family would probably be your only safe bet, and even then a 30gal is pushing the comfort envelope for such territorial fish.

I have a Yellow-Tailed Blue Damsel in my 100gal, but he is the only damsel in the tank. Never has bothered any other fish at all and is one of the longest tenants in my tank (about 18 months).

I don't think I would try adding more though, even though I seem to have a fairly docile one.

Why not try a small group of green or blue chromis? 3-4 small ones would probably get along fine in a 30gal.
