Default Opinions on Sedra pumps

I'm considering buying a Sedra pump for a return pump and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them.

I have the sedra 900 at the moment, very quiet and durable so I bought the 2000 model for my 230g which is still being set up. so I am happy with it.

I don't care for them myself. I've bought 3 in the past and all three had the problem with impeller's swelling in the pump and freezing. Warranty covered it a few times but even they got tired of replacing the pump. I currently have two sitting (not sure why I keep them) with the magnet so stuck in the pump even pliers won't remove them.

Just my experience though.

I have had 2 and am neutral with them, Ive had a sedra 12000 for a while and have had no problems with it. The other one I have was a sedra 9000 and I have replaced the impeller once on it, but it was covered under warranty and with the new impeller it has very bad problems restarting, about 50 percent of the time it will not restart after being shut off.

I used them several times in the past and don't recall any issues, I always considered them one of the better pumps in their price range.

I have an old Sedra 9000 that just keeps going and going. And just recently bought a Sedra 20000 that really puts out a lot of flow, way more than a Mag 18 that it replaced.

Solutions are easy. The real difficulty lies in discovering the problem.

Thanks for all the replies. It sounds like people have had mixed experiences, as I expected, but that they are at least decent. I guess I'll have to look at a couple others including the Aqua Medic and see which seems best. So many decisions.
