How do you hook up an additional booster pump to my Puratek?
I have a 100 GPD Puratek system. How would I hook up an additional pump to it?
Inline right at the beginning or after the other pump?

And why would you want an additional pump?
Is the one you have dead? Not giving you the desired pressure anymore? |

I was told by the manufacturer that adding another pump inline would greatly increase the efficiency of the system.
So far people have told me to hook it up inline either before the system or after the sediment chamber.

What's the average delivery pressure of water in your home by the city? Around here, upstream of the Pressure Reducing Valve in my house plumbing, the city delivers water at over 100 psi. I've adjusted my PRV to provide 80-90 psi to the house instead of the standard 60-70. I find this more than sufficient for my 75gpd system. Might be worthwhile for you to investigate those numbers (city pressure) & see if you also have a PRV in your plumbing. It should be not too far downstream from your water meter. They are code in Vernon as far as I know. Most models are adjustable & if you don't mind tweaking it (or plumbing in upstream of it) you may be able to run your RODI with no booster pump at all. Just need to make sure your home plumbing is in good shape & can handle a few extra psi.
Sorry, no help on the dual boost pump idea. Seems overly complex to me for a few extra psi. Some booster pumps are also adjustable.

I think the advantage of the second pump would be related to volume so I would assume the additional pump should be installed in parallel and not in series. To connect this way you'll need two tees, installed at the input and output of the current pump. The branch from each tee will connect to the new pump.
Booster pumps increase pressure but they also decrease volume (flow). Adding a second pump in series will increase the pressure but further decrease the flow rate and I can't imagine someone recommending increasing performance by increasing pressure without knowing exactly what pressure you're already running at, doesn't make sense so it must be an increase in volume you're looking for. |

Vertex makes a 200gpd puratek unit, it has two membranes. I've never heard of using two booster pumps on one RO/DI system in all my years in the industry.
