![]() Starting to dose Kalkwasser to maintain calcium, but do i do to maintain alkalinity. Do i have to continue dosing buffer or will it stabilize itself.

![]() Kalk is a ballanced buffer, same as A & B tybe solltion. When you are dosing kalk you are adding calcium and buffer at the same time. Make sense?

![]() The alkalinity (carbonates) component of kalkwasser comes indirectly from the interaction of CO2 in air. If you have problems maintaining alkalinity levels even with a saturated kalk solution you may need to supplement through increasing available CO2 or by using a carbon vehicle such as vinegar.

Your alkalinity should maintain itself with the use of kalk,but also should be used after a proper alk is reached. I would suggest the use of buffers to raise alk up,and then using kalk to maintain it then alternating as needed. Marc. [ 30 May 2002, 19:45: Message edited by: Superfudge ] |
