Default On-line pricing error

Ok, some of you advertizing and ethics folks chime in here...

If an on-line store has a posted price for a certain fish with a correct description, but it is a typo ($600.00 fish for $60) - how long should I wait after notifying them of the error before buying it and making them honor the posted price

Also, if the website has no disclaimer about errors, etc can they get off the hook in any way if I were to buy it?

Thanks,

Mark

PS - they are not a sponsor here

I would say depends on how big they are, places like Live Aquaria would probably honour it.

... hope you are not referring to ...... ;-D

I agree with vaporize. A big online store should be able to suck it up, but for local small stores -it would hurt them to much to be able to honor it and I would not expect them to.

Id say good luck with it. Something makes me think that if its a small retailer I agree that they wont be able to afford the loss and will appologize and not sell you the fish and well just from personal experience with a couple of the big stores (not all of course) they dont seem to care about one small customer getting upset and will just not sell you the fish. Just my .02

FWIW - an advertised price is an offer to sell something at that price. It is not mandatory that the vendor accepts your response to that offer even if you offer more than the advertised price.

If you asked to buy the fish at the lower price, you are making a counter offer which again, the vendor is not obliged to accept.

Basically they may out of good, will sell you the item at the incorrect price but are not legally obliged to.

I say give it a go & see what happens.
