Default Cutting a Trachyphyllia

Jim's off today and I thought it would be nice to bring a trachyphyllia home, but with only a 34G Solana it needed to be cut !

Then I cut it !

I'll give it some time to heal and then take the other half home !

Anyone interested in 1/2 a trachyphyllia !

All the best.

Wendell

PS Next week ill do an Ausy Scoly !

Wendell have you ever thought of cutting a few apart and then Frankensteinin them back together with different partners? I saw a thread on RC where it was done and it created the craziest combos!

Its actually pretty easy eh? What did you use? I've been using an Inland diamond bandsaw. I've cut this one 4 times now.

Here are two freshly cut halves.

Here is one of the pieces fully healed a while later.

And here is a little piece that accidently broke off and formed a mini colony. Red arrow points towards a pod to show scale.

I just cut this one a few days ago. Picture is from right after cutting. I'll take a picture in a few weeks when it has healed fully and looks like normal again.

Between or through the mouth(s). Its best to have each piece with a mouth or at least part of a mouth. However the little brain that I ended up with originated as just a bit of flesh on skeleton with no mouth so it is possible to cut anywhere and still end up with a new colony. I've used a wet bandsaw, tile saw and dremal all with diamond blades. I've also heard of using a ring saw or even a hack saw or chisel but those last two would be much more damaging.
