Default new 30 gal

what type of filters would be good for this.? i got a fluval 202 on it now. is that enuff ?also lighting ,i was think of putting some of those compacts bulbs that fit in a reg socket. maybe a few clowns too to keep him from geting lonely.any other advice would help me greatliy.

well the tank still has water in it, after a short mess up the outtake came off and went outside the tank causing a mini flood cause. i got it earliy only about a inch of water spilled.
i placed 2 small perk clowns in it to test it out let hope they still swimming in the morning. the reason i put them in the new tank is when brought them home i kinda droped thier bag on the floor and they bounced. , i didnt want to got serching thew my reef tank for corpes.i was going to stick them in my sump until thier tank was ready

Default Can't really offer advice...

I can't really tell you what is good or not, but I can tell you my setup.

I have a 29G tank, drilled with a 3/4" hole to my 20G sump. I have a mag 7 return through a SCWD and a mag 5 as a closed loop. I also have ~40 - 50lbs LR and about 2" SB. In my sump I have a CPR bacpak running off a maxijet.

That's my system in a nutshell. So far so good

I like the fluvals. My parents use one in their FW tank. The only problem is they take forever to prime and restart when the power goes out. You might want a little more flow too, but that depends on what you want in the tank.

I think this forum was created more for posting articles on basics etc. Least that was my impression.

I'd put on a large AquaClear, no cover, put in some rock fragments and maybe some chaetomorph/pubic , with a clip-on PC over it for a great mini fuge.

Get some of the mini brittle stars....I have a sponge on the AquaClear intake because I keep pipefish in there, I never have to clean the sponge because it is a living filter imbedded with brittle stars

Emily,

Where can I get some mini brittle stars? I have one brittle now but it is about 6" tentacle to tentacle.

Default 30gal. set-up

I have a 29 gal. tank. It has softy corals, 3 fish and inverts snails crabs..... I have a 2-3in. sand bed, about 30 lbs of live rock combined with some lace rock(base rock). 2 powerheads one in each corner. A prism skimmer. I have 110watts of lite over head. So far so good. I do monthly waterchanges. I use tahitian blend phyto plankton twice a week. One drop of iodine every week. Ya thats it. Its been running about 2years and everything is propering and healthy.
