Can anyone identify what this is?
We have a couple of spots of what looks like jelly-like packets of what, we don't know. The are white with some opaque, some transparent areas. They have not grown or changed since we got the tank 2 months ago. Just curious what they may be. I have tried taking a pic with not great luck but here it is. There is a couple of these spots right in the middle of the shot.

could be a couple of things spunges.
May even be a very small rock Nem that comes out at night they have some color to them. check at night with a flashlight to see, if it is one of the little rock Nems they are harmless and only come out at night they do not like light. They syay small I have a coulpe in my tank right now one has purple or blue huw to it and the other has a bit of brown tint to it. These two are now atapsia or mojano I've poste pics before and have confemed this. Besides atapsia and Mojano will come out during the day in bright light these other one do not like light. A better pic would help? Bill |

I would guess they are blue sponges....hard to see it.... a closer pick would be great!
I should also get my eyes checked... apparently I can't read either. Last edited by Leah; 02-21-2010 at 11:20 PM. |

If they have the shape of a pinnapple then they are pinnapple sponges.

I'd be happy if this is a sponge BLOB.

ETA: Oops, my bad. I didn't see the pics on the second page glad they were ID'ed though!
Deanna I believe that these are from the tunicate family. I have similar looking ones in my tank that came on my live rock. They were almost transparent with a bright greenish yellow ring around the top. They seem to come and go. I had no idea what they were until I saw a pic of them from another web site. Search on google images and you can see some of the many different types there are. Deanna
