I have these whyite wormy things in my tank about 1/2 inch long. Good or BAD? and what are they?

Oh god.. not another sailor.. an HT to top it off.
 can you get a pic? Do they have a tube they live in? or are they mobile? Threads coming out of them? all kinds of possibilities. more info better answers you can get back.
