Default Calgary Water

Anyone do a tds reading lately on Calgary tap water.... I just tested mine and my ro/di unit... My tap water was reading only 12 and my ro/di unit was reading 2. I did not think our tap water was that good.... Maybe its time to buy a better tds meter... Cheapy walmart one...

I'm getting >200 out of the tap at the moment, although mine comes out of Glenmore and if you're in the north yours is coming out of Bearspaw, and I believe I've heard that Glenmore is usually quite a bit harder.

I live in the north of Calgary and mine is always hovering between 170 to 200 ppm from the tap.

Im fairly new to the Marine fishkeeping hobby. Is there something bad about using Calgary water for a FOWLR tank? is a RO/DI unit a necessity? does the hardness of calgary water not help buffer pH? of is it too much?

You can use Calgary water just get a good conditioner like PRIME, but if you want to control what is in the water then get an ro/di until or get water brought in.
