Stand Sizing

If I have a 30" 32 gallon tank with a plastic rim is it okay for it to overhang the edges of the stand by 2 inches or does it really need to be supported all around?

I'm pretty sure it should have support all around but just want to get the benefit of other folks experience.

The trim has to sit on the stand.
