![]() I find that my 10 gallon sump (directly beneath my 29gallon display tank) tends to get a build up of light brown detritus on the bottom of the tank.
Anyone know of a good housekeeping organism that will eat this detritus? This is the stuff that leads to ammonia yes? thanks in advance. |

![]() I just put some snails in mine but eventually you'll want to siphon the detritus out.

![]() Using filter socks mostly eliminates that.

![]() hmm i'm gonna have to try the filter sock thing.
that's a really good idea. could i just use nylon stockings or will that work? cause siphoning isn't really practical. my sump is pretty much at ground level. |

![]() No, you'll need an actual filter sock. They're reasonably cheap and washable. If your LFS doesn't have them, lots of our online sponsors carry them.

![]() put a power head in the sump. helps keep everthing floating around so the skimmer can get it.
