Default Removing Xenia

I have no idea how this stuff got into my tank again but I need to try to remove it. I hate this stuff!

I have to remove it in the tank and am just wondering if the stuff it releases when you cut it, is toxic to other corals?

Or what is the best way to get it off a rock?

I can't remove the rock from the tank.

Its not toxic, I usually just peel it off with my fingernails, although anything left behind forms a new colony. You can also place a smaller piece of rock on top of it let it grow on to that and then simply remove it that way.

Use forceps, pinch it near the bottom and slowly roll it off the rock, if you are careful you can get the whole thing off. The idea of getting it to grow onto a small rock is a great one, once it's on the small rock you can take it to the lfs and trade it in, xenia is usually a good seller.

I just suck it out with the hose will doing my water change, so far no new colonies, just the one I keep in a certain spot.

The forceps should work with anything you can get a hold of, just make sure it's a slow peeling movement not just a ripping it off type thing. As for Xenia one thing I forgot is if you can lift the rock out of the tank simply holding it above the water can make the xenia start to release it's foot hold with in a few minutes.
