Default Hose Clamps + Salt Water

Is it safe to use hose clamps on submerged equipment. Is there something bad that can leach from them or do they rust. What is an alternative?

Joe.

I use plastic ones, got them at Rona, they tend to be cheaper at non-pet stores.

Princess Auto sells them by the bag. IIRC there are about 20 of various sizes for a couple of bucks. Neon colors is the only problem with them.

Not for the aquarium but I've used zip-ties with hose on barb fittings. Wasn't coming apart.
