qucik question about this winter weather we are having...
Hey guys
this weather in vancouver seems to be wreaking havoc on my tank, normally tap water is clean enough here in van that we dont need to use r/o water but with all the snow and what not lately my tank has had a pretty bad outbreak of brown/red algae (cyano) and ideas how to cure it without getting a filter or buying distilled water? thanks Drew |

How long has the tank been set up, what livestock is in it now, how much are you feeding, what do you have for filtration, flow, and lastly what are you params at?

I get all my water from one of the local "Filtered Water" businesses. Not the do it yourself machines you see in Safeway but a proper water business that refills the blue water bottles for household drinking. This all depends on the size of your tanks, two bottles last me 4 weeks.
Ask to see their logs, they should have a log book of TDS going in and TDS at the end of the pipe. I am lucky in that I found a new guy in Surrey who knows his business and I get as pure waster as you can get without distillation. |

Light is PC 65 watt 50/50 and actinic which i havent been running for 2 days now and the cyano has really gone down. im going to scrape off the back wall and let it filter out and see if it comes back in a week or so. then next week im going to buy a RO/DI unit. |
