RO troubles

For some reason my RO stopped working on me yesterday. I pulled it all apart tonight and couldn't figure it out. The one place were it stopped flowing was out of the clean water coming from the membrane housing. Inside of the JohnGuest fitting was a little metal contraption. What is that?
Any suggestions on why it stopped working?

It that your flow regulator? Sounds like a chunk of crap dislodged from the RO membrane and has clogged up the flow regulator maybe. Prevent this by flushing the RO membrane after each use. Try taking the flow regulator out, and rinsing it. See if you can blow through it.
