Default Tunze Stream

Tonight I hooked up my 6110 Tunze stream kit. This is the 32175gph kit with variable controller. This thing does flow very nice, however, I will have to add a second unit to the other side of the tank.
RC reviews talk about boiling the water and such....no such luck. I was worried that I might have to tie down my corals and that my sand bed would blow out of the tank.
Didn't move a grain of sand, although my fish love the ride.

To remove any negative tone to this review, I am certainly happy with the unit and it performs as well as I realistically expected. I didn't really buy into the RC hype about the flow and did hear from a local user of one that they felt 2 were required also.
I will add a smaller 6080 unit to the other side. The 6080 does not have acontroller so only runs at one speed.

How do you feel one would do on say a tank that is 3 foot long?

Steve, I think it would do fine. When I get my second, you can try it before I hook it up

Brad,
Do you feel the controller was worth the money? I was thinking one could purchase a pair of 6080 stream for the same price.

Tough call, Doug. The pulsing action is nice, but worth $250 over the 6080 pump? Not sure. If I only had $600 to buy flow devices, I would buy 2 6080 pumps instead of the 6110 kit.
I will be adding a 6080 to the other side of the tank. I think this hitting the oncoming pulse of the 6100 will give a nice effect.

Initial descriptions though on RC of water boiling and blowing the sand out of the tank and pinning fish to the glass are well exagerated. :?
Overall though it DOES add a lot of flow, with a broad coverage of the tank. Just don't be afraid of it being too much.

Troy, I'll post pics as soon as I've finalized the mounting. My canopy makes it tough to use stock parts.
I have to say though, my fish are thoroughly enjoying the ride!!

Hmmmm, guess the thumbnails from my page dont post large. Anyhow, its a pic of my new 6080 Tunze stream pump. Nice unit. Good current but not overkill. Blew some crap from the rocks. Fish are still hiding peeking at it. Not a sound from it.
