I found this in my bottom tank today and I am not sure what it is.
It was in the sand bed with this side exposed, and it is perfectly flat on this side ![]() th other side is rough and a bit conical in a spirial as you see in the pic, this is the side that was down in the sand. ![]() what is it? Steve

Yes true, when the snail withdraws into its shell for protection, that thing is like a hard door that closes and protects the soft snail. However, Mother Nature being a cruel bitch, has of course designed predators who can open that door.

ahh ok, i did lose a big astrea, it was huge so hopefully it was natural causes.
