Default need some help with a leak

haha.... as the title suggests, I've got a bit of a problem with a leak and could use some advice. What happened is that a bit of sand got down between the aquarium and the rubber seal of the bulkhead while I was adjusting the plumbing and now it won't achieve a tight seal. Of course, this leaves me with a steady trickle from around the bulkhead which fortunately to this point I have been able to direct into my sump but I obviously can't just let it stay that way.

I can't be the only person this has ever happened to, I figure, so what can I do about it? Anyway of fixing it short of draining the tank? OH, BTW, It's a 94 gallon cube tank and it's just newly setup and is cycling with a small amount of LR in it right now, so no danger to livestock.

Is it in an overflow? If so, then it can be drained and a seal put around the bulkhead. If not, then I guess the only option is to try seal the outside of it.

Although not much help to you know, this is why I always put a bead on the outside of the bulhead before attaching and then bead around the inside, protecting the rubber seal.

unfortunately my standpipe in this situation is out free in the centre of the tank.... No overflow chambers here....

and yeah, that immediately occurred to me as something that would've been a good idea but unfortunately not until after this already happened.
