Default DSB Substrate

I am thinking of running a remote DSB on my new system, what kind of sand is best for this application. A standard 20 gallon will house the DSB, I was thinking about 8"+, prob about 40lbs I guess. I am kind of a newb when it comes to DSB as I have always run shallow sand beds and my new tank is BB.

TIA
