Default lighting question?

Just a quick question for you guys. I'm setting up a smaller reef tank (30g) and I was wondering if I use a 150W HQI MH pendant with a 14000k bulb, do I still need to use actinic lamps? I was hoping to just use the pendant and get some moonlights. If Actinics are needed then I have to go with the aqualight fixture with PC bulbs as well as one Mh, but its so much more expensive. I want to be able to keep some clams, anenomes and soft corals. Tank is 30" long, 12" wide and 20" tall. Thanks.

you should be ok, higher light things will still have to be up fairly high with a 150watt setup in that tank because of the hight of the tank.

Would I be better going with a 250W HQI MH? I always thought that would be too much light over a 30g.

I would go 250, I have a 250 14k over a 42 cube and it isn't that much light. The 14k is pretty blue and it doesn't have a lot of par.
