![]() I have a gen-x water pump and I hadn't used it for a while. I hooked it up to my tank and this thing vibrates the whole house. It is extremely loud and it is going to drive my wife nuts! Is there something I can do or are these pumps generally loud? Any help would be appreciated.

![]() If you have rigid pvc connecting the pump switch it for pvc flex. Try different ways to secure the pump (bolts in mounting plate.) Put something in between the pump and mounting surface like rubber. I made the mistake of bolting a pump to my open stand that is attached to the wall framing. The vibration travels thru the wall.

![]() check if the impeller's coated in hard minerals? I know I've had that happen from even just tapwater on cichlid tanks and soaking the impeller in vinegar fixed it right up.
and it's something quick and easy to try before you go spend money on new plumbing and go through the hassle of changing it.
