Default UV Sterilizer

Is there any advantage or disadvantage to having your overflow go through a UV Sterilizer before it hits your sump as long as the flow is appropriate and it's mounted horizontally?

I'd say a huge disadvantage is that you're not passing particle free water through the sterilizer.

why mounted horizontally? Vertically is probably better unless you have a oddity one that is designed for horizontal.. but for most you want your flow to go in the bottom and out the top to prevent any chance of trapped Air from entering..

now that I have said that I think it is a bad idea to have it on your overflow because of the amount of air that is carried through the overflows.
