![]() I am just wondering what is the time frame of vaccuming/cleaning the dsb in my sump, or should I just leave it. I have about 5 inches sand/crushed coral mixed, no plennum, a couple of sand dollars for sand sifting. I have about 20 lbs. live rock in the return partition, and running a cora life 220 skimmer and remora 3 pro. My water seems ok, alk 9.0, calcium 400, ph 8.2 and high nitrates at 40- 50 ppm. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

![]() I thinkthe best course of action is to vacuum only a portion of the sand bed at any one time. You can guage how bad it's getting by how much crud comes out. Increase your frequency just to keep things in control while not totally disturbing the sand bed.

![]() How long has it been setup?
You could take the sump off-line for a few hours, and thorougly clean it. If you could get rid of the crushed coral and go all sand then you wouldn't have to clean it as often, if ever. |
