Love My Neon Goby
Just picked up a Neon goby from J&L & it's tiny. But this little guy/girl has already set up a cleaning station right in the corner of the tank closest to my sofa
 All the big fish are taking turns swimming over & getting a cleaning over. I love that little fishy. Anthony I know, wrong forum but here's an action pic (sorry its not that clear):  Anybody else with one of these reef doctors?

i thought about getting one for my tank,b ut will have to wait till i get a bigger tank

Hey these fish are pretty neat.. I haven't ever seen any locally though.
Do they actually clean fish? What exactly do they do? I never knew they served any kind of purpose like that.. I just thought they were tiny small community fish.

They're the best biological control for external parasites. They actually live, whereas most cleaner wrasses die within weeks or months of going into an aquarium. Mine set up a cleaning station literally within an hour and the tangs started lining up for its services right away. Apparently they also breed quite readily in captivity.

That's very neat.. thanks for the info !
I have 4 fish in my 20g... too bad. This one would have been a great/small addition to the tank. Then again.. it's such a small fish.. I wonder if it would be okay ?? I do weekly water changes, no more than two weeks anyways. What are your thoughts? Sounds like it could be a good fish to have either way .

I have 2 in my 90 gallon. They're awesome little fish, fun to watch even if they didn't clean the fish as an added benefit. Damned small though

Are they disease resistant? I was going to order a couple for my majestic angel but I would hate to see them die because I put them into a tank with marine velvet.

No they're not disease resistant. Before Dinomania 2004, I had a couple of sharknose gobies (same genus different species) in the tank, they got ick but none of my other fish did which I thought was weird. Then I would see some of my other fish would have ick sometimes and then it was gone. It wasn't until I found one of the gobies happily munching away on the big fish that I realized why. I fed the gobies a crapload of garlicky food and they all pulled through
Still worth a try IMO. Christy
