Default Tank brace?

How important is the brace on a 26 gal bowfront? The tank is 18" high

I'd say not very important at all. I can't recall ever seeing a brace on a tank that size.

I had a 26gal bowfront for a short time, it had that flimsy plastic center brace also. I thought about cutting it out. In the end I just took the tank back(it was from Walmart). I just dont like any chance a tank could burst so I didnt take the chance. Just my view.

I can't say for all tanks but a lot of tanks have a center brase for nothing more that to act as a support for lights ect.

the guys at seastar told me that was the reason for them on there tanks, now havign said that they will probably deny and warenty if you take it out

To the best of my knowlege there is only one 26 gallon bow front, but yes it would have been that high. Mine was old too, I had to redo the silicon for that moon shaped piece on the front top. I did it while the tank was full of water and nothing happend, they're pretty solid.

Thanks Danny. I think I will take the brace off but remember if anything happens I'm blaming you
