Being a angel in a lps tank

Another addition would be a angel, but again from what ive read they are truly hit and miss in a reef tank and when they do nibble on the corals lps are top of the list aswell as clams ,ive seen lots of dwarf angels doing great in reefs which mostly contained sps,if you have an angel in your tank and feel like posting any thoughts please do so..thanks john

Had an awesome cherub angel & it never touched the corals. Had so much attitude & personality & real beauty too.

Tigger has a great little Flame angel in his reef setup - no problems.

I have a Coral Beauty (from Robert) in Chin Lee's tank with xenia & no problem.

If you have a QT, try putting the dwarf into it with some xenia or other easily replaceable frag & see if it nibbles on it.

The dwarf dwarfs (like cherubs and flamebacks) are the closest to being true reef safe. Mid-sized ones are slightly higher risk.

On the other side of the coin, my beautiful Queen angel is mine because it was eating my friend's $70 x-lg closed brain & it ate all my waving hand anthelia.

By the way, stay away from fluorescent orange coloured lemon-peels because that is an indication that its been cyanide-caught & will DIE within a month.

My flameback goes after snails , nibbles on some green macroalgae that I have no idea what it is (could be a species of caulerpa), is full of vim and vigor. Have it in a tank with xenia, GSP, BSP, button polyps, mushrooms.

I have a bicolor angel in a tank with acros, LPS and softies. Had no problems.

I have had a flame angel in my softie tank for a year and a half. It finds small polyps irresistable but has left all lps corals alone. I'm also having a hard time trying to convince him that xenia really is edible

I have 2 angels in my reef (lots of LPS) and they don't bother anything.

They are both dwarf angels: Cherub angel-- Centropyge argi
Golden angel -- Centropyge aurantia

I am sure it also has alot to do with how well your are feeding them. If they are well fed I am sure they will have no reasone to go "hunting" for extra nourishment from your corals

Thanks for all the input its helping alot, the flame probably is my number one.
Cherub angel being a close second i still have bad memories of tearing down my down my 20g to find a xenia eating bi colour blennie at the rate of which the xenia grew i should have left it in there ,as we speak i think i'm reaching my max stocking level there are eleven blue green chromis two flasher wrasse ,one six line and two percs and a yellow or purple tang in the near future , the tank is a 90g 150lb or so of rock three inch sand bed and byrans kick a$$ skimmer (thanks again Bryan)..

I have a Whitetail Pygmy Angel (Centropyge Flavicauda) and he is awesome. Great little fish!! See him out and about all the time and hasn't touched anything yet. I do have a fair number of SPS, LPS but no Clams.
