I was wondering what is a acceptable range in temperature. What I mean is, what are acceptabe low and high temps during a normal 24 cycle. If my tank sits at 76.8 at its coolest and peaks at 82 during peak lighting, would this be okay?

It isn't ideal, but not terrible. Maybe turn the heater up so the low end isn't so low.

I was thinking that, but thought it may take my high up that much higher, would this not be the case?

Possibly, but I'd try it to find out. Depends on what is heating it up. Maybe add a fan and turn up the heater. That might reduce the swing a bit.
