Point and shoot
I don't really take a lot of pictures and when I do I usually just use my cellphone. I have tried to take pictures of my tank with it and they are terrible. So I am looking for advice on an affordable point and shoot camera that will let me take pictures of my tank. Hope you all can help me. Thanks.

I use an Olympus TG-2, which is great for underwater shots of your corals.
http://www.photographyblog.com/revie...h_tg_2_review/ And here is a discussion back when I first got it and was learning to use it. http://www.canreef.com/vbulletin/sho...t=96625&page=3 And how to adjust my white balance for proper color with LEDs. http://www.canreef.com/vbulletin/sho...d.php?t=101272 I really like it now. Also go into my tank journal to see more recent pics with this camera. The only complaint I ever had was the lack of a manual focus. But then again, most point and shoot cams don't have that capability. The TG-2 has been out for about a year now, though, and it's possible that a follow-on TG-3 may be available soon.

Are the tg-2 and tg-830ihs comparable?

No, the tg-830 is a lower end camera. The tg-2 has an F2.0 lens which is very good for lower light super macro shots, as when shooting corals underwater up close.

I use an older Canon G10, awesome everyday camera with lots of manual control. There are newer models in the G series however I have seen the G10 sell for around $200 on craigslist and that's a super price for a very solid camera that will give you great images of anything!
