Default 'Forest' on live rock !

I seem to have a little more 'plant life' than I'd like on one of my new live rocks....can anyone ID it for me? Is it algae of some sort? Couldn't seem to find a photo that matches it anywhere.
Is it going to take over my tank...and should I return it to the LFS?

This is not a clear picture, but looks to be Cotton Candy algae or Asperagopsis sp. Regardless, this is a nuisance algae that needs to be controlled immediately.

You have a few choices as follows:
  1. Return the live rock to your LFS (especially if they knowingly sold you another hobbyists problem rock);
  2. Remove it totally from your system and cook it for later use;
  3. Keep the the live rock, but manually remove as much as possible by scrubbing (in a bucket outside of the aquarium), rinse well and then replace it to your system. Ensure that your water parameters will sustain any livestock, they introduce some herbivores in an attempt to control the red algae. A few that might help you include Sea Urchins, Lettuce Nudibranchs, Mexican Turbo Snails, Foxface and some of the Surgeonfish.

Thanks for the response....that's what I figured :O(
I'll be heading back to the store this morning to exchange it for rock from one of their other tanks that are algae free....the other pieces I got from there are great and full of critters already.
The tank's been running for less than a week....so I'm not sure I'm ready to sacrifice anyone in there yet until I know it's stabilized and cycled properly

Algae rock...returned, no problem....even gave me an extra pound thrown in. Sucked up any floating scraps I could find...so hopefully, problem averted in time !
